My New Rustic-Glam Bathroom

Friday, October 24th, 2008

After a very long & unexciting series of events, I have finally finished dressing up our 1/2 bath.  More Glam than Rustic, it’s one of the few spaces in our house that I’ve added some sparkle.  I especially love the painting on the back wall!!  Thank you, Locust Grove!!

Western SPUR STYLE

Friday, April 18th, 2008

The April 2008 issue of Cowboys & Indians Magazine features an article titled ‘Antique American Cowboy Spurs’ wherein Bruce Bartlett, owner of the Rio Grande Trading Company, explains the history of Western Spurs.  As both a collector and dealer of bits, spurs and other antique cowboy gear, Bruce explains the regional differences that affected the style of antique spurs, plus a 101 on beginning your own collection.

Through my years of dealing with Rustic*Western*Vintage decor I have run into a few spur collectors so I really enjoyed this simple yet thorough explanation about the art of collecting western spurs.

Here is some recommended reading if you are interested in learning more about Antique Spurs…
Bit & Spur Makers in the Texas Tradition The Spur Cowboy Spurs and Their Makers

041708Indian.jpgSince my budget doesn’t allow for an extensive collection of anything but 529’s I will have to opt for decorating with modern spurs instead of collecting the venerable sort.

My favorite use for spurs (old or new) is to use them as a paper weight, or to top off a stack of magazines & books.

Here are a few other options from the Rustic*Western home decor market…

p.s. for those of you who don’t subscribe to Cowboys & Indians Magazine, it is like a manual for the Rustic*Western lifestyle & home.  I love it, love it, love it!!  Go to your local newsstand this weekend to pick up this month’s issue OR go ahead and subscribe to Cowboys & Indians Magazine right now - just click HERE!!

Thanks for a great week!!  I hope that your weekend is FABULOUS…  Be sure to check in Monday.  Till then, Happy Trails &  may God Bless you and your home…  xoxo, Tracy (aka “Fancy”)
