Vintage Cowboy Boots

It has been a crazy busy couple of weeks here at CCD.com.  I finally got the boys Back in School {thank you very much for the much needed routine}, and we’ve been working hard at the Cactus Creek STORE to get some of our newest goods on ETSY & prepare for our busiest season of the year with fall festivals & all of the events that accompany the season ahead…

Personally I have been working hard on the Weston MO Wedding GUIDE which I had hoped to have completed next week.  It’s going amazingly well but I’m starting to feel anxious about the whole thing and feel the need to hunker down for a couple of weeks… that said, we are going to take a little break here at CCD.com.  I won’t be completely absent, I’ll still pop in here and there, but for the next couple of weeks I am going to be posting “the BEST OF” posts… we’ve been at this bloggity blog blog for over three years and have some great stuff that you may or may not have seen… so enjoy and when I get back it’ll be time for our bi-annual trip to Round Top, Texas and all of the fun that comes with it!!!  talk soon, love ya, fancy

In the meantime, here is a little ROUND UP of all we’ve been up to the past couple of weeks…

this week’s ROUND UP: Collections

Mexican Batea Collection

It has been so much fun this week looking at everyone’s COLLECTIONS…. gave me so many great new ideas & things to look for when out & about…  And there are tons of things going on in Weston MO this weekend… auctions, sales & more auctions.  Hard to hit it all, if only I had twice the time & twice the money, you know…  Please stop by the Cactus Creek STORE if you’re going to be in the neighborhood!!!

The image above is my favorite personal collection ~ Mexican Bateas.  I’ve collected them for years and have gotten to the point that I’m pretty picky on size, wear and price.  I like them well-worn, cheap, and either really big or really small… these are in my laundry room which is a place I seem to spend a lot of time.  I figure if I have to fold clothes then I might as well be surrounded by the things I love.

Who knows what next week will bring… but I hope to see you here.  Have a great one… love, fancy

Faux Bois Wedding Cake

WEDDING WEEK at CCD.com… my mind is whirling with all of the fantastic ideas and I know that I barely scratched the surface.  I’m thinking that I need to throw myself a huge birthday bash sometime so that I can take all of this inspiration and create a really fantastic party.  I’m pretty sure that the boys wouldn’t appreciate centerpieces with succulents, or flea market china, for one of their birthday parties or even just a dinner of corn dogs & tater tots.

I did, just so you know, try to put together a “Western Wedding” post, but I couldn’t find many sources that were even close to hip so I decided to back off from that idea.  I did find this faux bois wedding cake {ABOVE} & strolled through all of the pictures which show a dreamy winter wonderland wedding ~ be sure to check it out!!

Hope y’all have a great weekend ~ it’s Platte County Fair time here in our neck of the woods.  Growing up in the big city of Houston I’m still intrigued by county fairs & demolition derbies.  It’s a long way from the city lights but I can’t imagine anything more fun on a hot summer night!!  Next week is Bible School for the boys so I may play hooky a few days from CCD.com… sooo, I guess I’ll see you on the other side.  xo+fancy

p.s. Here is a list of all of our Wedding Week Posts!!

** New Blog ~ RUSTIC WEDDING CHIC from our Rustic Wedding Series with Whispering Pines

** WEDDING Week WISH LIST

** WEDDING Week: Vintage Trailer Wedding

** WEDDING Week: Junk Gypsy Style {Miranda Lambert + Blake Shelton}

this week’s ROUND UP… dreaming of bluebonnets

Friday, July 15th, 2011

Texas Bluebonnets
It’s been a blah blah couple of weeks… one boy with a broken arm, the other two with some weird skin thing {blech}.  I didn’t even realize that I hadn’t posted one thing on CCD.com for almost a week.  But we’re back in the game and settling back into this hot, muggy summer.  Everyone complains about the heat, and I’m not a fan of it, but Lordy, it’s so much better than hauling everyone’s coats around during winter time.  I love just being able to throw on a sundress & run out for the entire day without another thought…

We finally have some new goods on ETSY, including this pretty little bluebonnet painting.  There is nothing greater than driving down the Texas highway and seeing bluebonnets fly by… I’m sure someone is going to love having this little piece in their home!!

Hope you all have a great weekend… below are some of the posts from the last couple of weeks… next week will bring more rustic/recycled wedding fun + more!!  xo+,fancy

* New Blog: RUSTIC WEDDING CHIC

* Music we LOVE: Kid Rock

this week’s ROUND UP… A River Runs Through It {Weston MO}

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

Weston MO Summer 2011

It’s been another world wind week here in Weston MO.  The boys are officially out of summer school & we’ve had our first full week of me trying to be full time mom & full time shop owner.  I think we’ll get along just fine… work like hell when they are occupied and enjoy every sweet moment of mom time ~ sleeping in, swimming, movies & picnics.

At the Cactus Creek STORE in Weston MO we received a fresh new batch of goods from Amanda at Rusty Star… picture frames, canvases, magnets, purses & more fun stuff that I know the  tourists will LOVE.  Also here in Weston the water finally came in that we have been promised for the last month.  The Missouri River has backed up & our little town is getting the overflow.

There are two ways to take the news of the “flood” ~ panic. OR realize that this is how Weston looked 100 years ago.  Back in the day Weston MO was bigger than Kansas City, a thriving river town that was one of the last stops if you were headed west.  A different flood happened then, one that actually moved the river to it’s new path over a mile away.  Weston has decided to embrace our new water… one merchant wrote this, which I love!!

COME SEE WESTON THE WAY GOD INTENDED!!!! The river is back where it was before 1881… Main Street is dry, the shops are OPEN… For the time being we are a waterfront property again!!! It looks AWESOME!!! You can almost envision a riverboat passing by…

Amen, people, come see us AND the river!!! Hope you all have a blessed 4th of July… see ya’ next week… xo+,fancy

Round Top ANTIQUE WEEK {Fall 10}: Warrenton

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

A few more pictures from Warrenton when we were at Round Top Antique Week a few weeks ago…

Round Top Antique Week isn’t one big show ~ it’s many shows that take place throughout four little towns & all of the surrounding areas.  One of those little towns is WARRENTON.  Warrenton is where Zapp Hall is located, and also where the Junk Gypsies set up shop for that week &  a half.  Some people call Warrenton “the fields” because it’s all just cow pastures and farmers fields the other 50 weeks a year.

 Warrenton Texas

These folks were set up behind the gas station in Warrenton.  They had so many rusty crusty fixtures, huge signs & other treasures that I would have loved to strap to the top of the Excursion.

 Warrenton, Texas

This peely white display case was particularly fantastic.  I bet I walked past it a dozen times, drooling over the rough paint, wrap around windows and four different doors.  It was fantastic ~ would look gorgeous in a store filled with jewelry…  The price tag was $3000.   I bet you could have gotten it for $1500 cash.  But it would have been a bear to bring home and I didn’t happen to have that much cash on me. go figure… ha!!

 Warrenton, Texas

This enormous copper cross was also pretty wonderful.  It was huge ~ at least 6 feet tall.  Where could you put something like this??  A front entry hall…. what do you think??

Warrenton Texas

Warrenton, Texas

Any other ideas for these rusty ol’ fixtures??  They would also look great in a store holding vintage clothes… ahh, the ideas never end.  Enjoy!!
