Iron Herd from Wayne Rossi at D.S. Ironworks
I received a note last week from Kathy & Wayne Rossi from Dripping Springs, Texas. Dripping Springs is just 15 miles West of Austin, a place that is so lovely it makes heart beat fast just to think of it. They own a B&B called the Star House {great name!!}, and Wayne creates whimsical iron art through his business, D.S. Ironworks.

Creating everything from bookends, to iron lamps, to outdoor sculptures, Wayne’s art is manifested by his torch ~ his “paintbrush to the canvas of metal”. Wayne, who is a TxO artist {great honor!!}, accepts special projects, and is constantly working on creative new sculptures with a Rustic * Western * Native vibe. I adore the ‘Iron Herd’ below ~ I’m thinking that an ‘Iron Herd of Buffalo’ might be needed on our hill in the country!!

In addition to the D.S. Ironworks website, you can also find Wayne’s art in the Bob Bullock Texas History Gift Shop as well as the Texas State Capitol Gift Shop. This Fall Wayne will be a part of the Texas Metal Arts Show in Gruene, TX. {Gruene is also home to Texas’ oldest dance hall ~ Gruene Hall. I’m thinking a road trip might be in order for this one…}

Wayne is also putting together a class in his studio for anyone interested in learning about cutting and using a torch. Just email wayne@rossidsironworks.com. You could even stay at the
Star House and make a weekend out of it!!

As for me, I’m hoping to get down there during the Dripping Springs Studio Tour so that I can also visit Gary Thompson from Lonesome Sage. What a talented little corner of Texas you have there in Dripping Springs!! I can’t wait to visit…
Thanks Kathy & Wayne!!
