Round Top ANTIQUE WEEK {Fall 09}: Marburger Farm
More today from our Texas trip to Round Top Antique Week… We begin with Marburger Farm Antique Show. As I’ve said before, Round Top Antique Week isn’t just about one big flea market, fine antique show or junk marketplace ~ Round Top Antique Week is an event that takes place throughout several little towns, over miles of highway, and with 1ooo’s of vendors. One of the best of the best when it comes to shopping during Antique Week is Marburger Farm.
Marburger Farm is nestled on 43 acres of pastureland and features twelve historic circa 1900 buildings including a Dance Hall, Bingo Hall and Saloon. One of the loveliest things about the Marburger setting is the feeling that you’ve stepped back into another era as you tour the old buildings and wonder about the stories the walls could tell. All of the buildings were brought in from Fayette County, Texas with the exception of the Saloon which came from Yorktown in South Texas near Victoria.
During Round Top Antique Week the story isn’t about the buildings, of course, it’s about the incredible assortment of antiques, art and vintage treasures that the 400 different vendors have brought to this old Texas farmstead. Whether it’s recycled junk, European antiques or vintage clothing, shoppers at Marburger Farm are assured an opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind items that are well worth the trip.
Since the farm was purchased from the settling family{the Marburgers} twelve years ago it has become of a preeminent shopping venue during Round Top Antique Week and is also becoming a renowned backdrop for wedding parties, corporate picnics, reunions and photo shoots.
