ROUND TOP {Spring 09}: Warrenton
Round Top Antique Week isn’t just ONE Antique Show, it’s actually 60+ Shows that all take place in a ten day period every spring and fall. While each show is run individually, they all seem to run together as you drive along Hwy 237, halfway between Houston and Austin, Texas. As you tour Round Top Antique Week you’ll shop through several little towns including Fayetteville, Carmine, Warrenton, and of course, Round Top. {Click HERE for a MAP}
One of the biggest draws to Round Top Antique Week is the town of Warrenton where there are over 25 shows and close to 1000 vendors. It is here that you will find some of the most popular spots at Round Top Antique Week, including Coles, Clutter, Excess, Zapp Hall, and of course the Junk Gypsies {more on them next week!!}.
Warrenton also offers an enormous, and somewhat random, selection of treasures. One of my funniest discoveries in Warrenton was the Bonnie Blue, the Rock Lady. In addition to painting rocks Bonnie also paints on bags, jewelry, furniture and *FUNKY cowboy boots*. And check out her ride BELOW!! Is that not the biggest hoot?? My favorite treasure that I brought home was not an antique at all ~ it was a FANCY new western belt!! I’ve been wanting one of these “oldie but goodies” forever and this was my lucky trip to score one from Mr. Lynn Lawrence!! Unfortunately Lynn won’t be back next year ~ he has found a new bride and they are “settling down for a while”. {If only you could have seen the way his eyes shined with JOY when he told me this news!! So sweet.} But not all is lost, Lynn and his new bride are opening a new leather shop in Edmonton, Kentucky called All Star Western. They will offer Custom Belts, Name Belts, Conchos, Buckles & more… AND they can mail you anything your heart desires!! For more info contact Lynn HERE.
The best place to shop in Warrenton for rustic and colorful furniture, pottery, and accessories is at Singleton Antique Imports. The images below show just a peek at their ‘Hungarian Antieks’. Click HERE to see more of Singleton’s when we stopped there last spring.
Along the way I bought LOTS of new merchandise for the Studio that I’m opening in a few weeks. My favorite find was the small stools {BELOW}. These are perfect for adding height to your nooks and crannies ~ I like to use them for propping books, pictures, plants & MORE around the house. Love ‘em!!

You have just got to meet Cher at The Texas Woman! She paints on cypress “knees”, writes, and has a mounted deer rump. She loves all things Texan and I just know you would find her fascinating.
