SHOP GIRLS {week 31.10}: Inventory {blech}
I have a major confession to make… I’ve had the Cactus Creek STORE up and running, in one place or another, for TEN years as of this month. I guess that’s a significant milestone except that I can’t even recall what day, or to whom, we made our first sale, so I guess I’ll let it slide on by… anyhoo, in all of those TEN years I have never, ever, ever taken a proper inventory. I’ve made mental inventories, I’ve kept good track in my accounting software, and could probably tell you where every single item came from, and how much it cost… but I am HORRIBLE at some of the most important parts of being a merchant ~ inventory being top of the list. How embarrassing to put this in words… yikes.
Well, the time has finally come. In fact the time is today. I’ve done a lot of growing up in my store the last few months ~ got a credit card machine that is in this century, adopted new buying methods, got completely caught up on the piles of paperwork that have been on my desk for months, and today I’m doing INVENTORY. I’m taking control. Wish me luck.

Happy ten years of business ! I do have the first dollar we made in our gallery , Diddy Wa Diddy, there in Weston oh those many years ago. I know who spent it but will have to ask Rhett what it went towards as far as artwork. Inventory. Oh, my tummy hurts thinking about it.
